A little bit about Will

Will Staff Member

Name: Will

Disciplines: Ski

Position: Instructor

I first tried skiing when I was 13 and was hooked as soon as I had my first pair of skis stuck to my feet. I actually remember little of that first lesson but absolutely everything about the impression it left on me and the incredible feeling of hurtling down a monstrous hill at approximately 100mph (at least that’s what it felt like!).

Although I tried to get away skiing at every opportunity possible, it wasn’t until I finished university and got the opportunity to work my first season that I knew I wanted to turn my hobby into a living. By the time I finished that first season I had already booked my BASI level 1 qualification and after working non stop on my second I managed to complete level 2.

Skiing to me is more than a sport or a hobby, it’s a culture. I love the satisfaction of taking a group of people from never having skied to showing them why I love skiing so much. Installing the passion of your sport and seeing people take to it and love it is the biggest reward of the job.

My theory on skiing is, you don’t have to be the best if you don’t want to, nor the fastest or the most proficient but as long as you can go from A to B with a massive smile on your face you are doing right.

Learning to ski opened so many doors for me from the people I’ve met to the countries I’ve visited, not to mention the skills I’ve gained and I love being able to start people on their own skiing journey and seeing them fall in love with the sport too.

What Will’s student’s said about his lessons on Trip Advisor:

“I have just returned home after an amazing first experience skiing. I am due to go on a ski trip at the end of Feb and everyone can ski but me. So I decided to give it a try… our instructor Will was fantastic! He was patient with our group and very focused on ensuring all five of us focused on our own goals and not worrying about anyone else. He made five very inexperienced and terrified people excited about trying out our new found skills on the slopes! Truly this was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time and can’t wait to get on the slopes for real! Thanks Will and thanks to my group for making it an amazing day… year”

Favourite Piece of Equipment

My ski boots, if you invest in one thing, make it your boots, make sure they’re comfy and make sure they fit. You spend all day in them and having sore feet can ruin your day.

Favourite Resort

Zermatt, Switzerland, where I did my first season and fell in love. It is, hands down, the most spectacular place I have ever been.
