SSSA Schools Alpine

Last Monday (20th February) entry for the SSSA indoor primary schools race on 15th March filled within 24 hours.   As a result many primary schools have missed out on the opportunity to race this winter and we have received a deluge of requests for more opportunity to race.

In an effort to accommodate this demand the SSSA committee has decided to lay on another Indoor Primary Schools Race event on Wed 26th April which is currently open to schools that have not got teams entered on 15th March.

If the SSSA find this extra primary schools race on 26th April has not filled up by 20th March, we will then open entry up to ALL primary schools to enter additional teams if they wish.

All Scottish Schools Snowsports events are jointly run by the Scottish Schools Snowsports Association and the National Governing Body for Snowsports in Scotland, Snowsport Scotland. Every event follows strict safety and risk assessment protocols to ensure the safety well being and protection of all competitors, and should anyone have any concerns or questions regarding this matter they should contact Snowsport Scotland on 0131 625 4405.

Wednesday 26th April Primary Schools Race

This indoor event will be set as a combination of Slalom and Giant Slalom style turns and a mini feature (jump) half-way.  The event will include a skier’s course inspection followed by two timed runs per competitor.  Two courses will be set with Females skiing one course and Males on the other.

Course Inspection will be from outside of the racing line to prevent unnecessary wear on the course.  There is no Novice specific category but novices are encouraged to enter and form part of the school teams.
