Bar Varia, the Tyrolean styled restaurant and Bier Halle within Snow Factor Braehead just 10 minutes drive west of Glasgow city centre has just celebrated hosting its most successful annual Oktoberfest in 5 years.  Last Saturday (1 October), 200 party goers enjoyed an evening of music and feasting on quality German beers (including Augustiner, Erdinger Dunkel and Erdinger Weisse) and  and traditional Bavarian foods, including wurst (sausages) and pretzel.

According to Michael McManus, general manager of Bar Varia, the evening surpassed expectations.  “Our annual Oktoberfest celebration is always popular but this year it was completely sold out.  It was a terrific night and while our thoughts are now turning to Halloween and Christmas, I’m certain we’ll revisit Oktoberfest again next year.

With Halloween just weeks away, ghosts and ghouls are planning to stalk the snow and ice within Scotland’s only indoor real snow-sports destination.  On the evening of Saturday 29 October, Bar Varia and Baltic Ice Bar (Scotland’s only permanent ice bar) will host a ‘Day of the Dead’ Hallowe’en party. Themed on Mexico’s famous annual event – the ‘Dia de los Muertos’ – the ticketed event will include Mexican themed cocktails, face-painting and tequila!

To celebrate Hallowe’en and offer a chilling experience, the Baltic Ice Bar will also be turned into a Haunted Asylum. Tickets for Baltic Ice Bar start at £15pp with the 45-minute session including a (warm) cape and a cocktail, shot or Coors Light.  Book now.
