Bar Varia, the Bavarian styled après-ski bar and restaurant within Snow Factor Braehead has been named Independent Bar category winner in the Best Bar None Renfrewshire 2015/2016 awards scheme.

An assessment panel gave the bar a score of 98.7% – the highest ever recorded in the category.

Baltic Ice Bar, opened in April last year within Snow Factor as Scotland’s only permanent ice-bar complete with ice-walls and a half-tonne ice throne was also recognized at the same awards for its Best Use of Innovation.

Best Bar None is an accreditation scheme for licensed premises and has been running in Scotland since 2005. Based on core national standards, the scheme aims to reward premises that provide a safe and welcoming environment for patrons to enjoy responsible drinking.

Overlooking the slopes of Scotland’s only indoor real snowsports facility, in Bar Varia après-ski diners and visitors can enjoy tasty Bavarian food and drink including the Tyrol sharing platter (with bratwurst, smoked sausage and frankfurter) and a range of refreshing wines and beers including the German brews of Paulaner, Erdinger, Hofbrau Dunkel and Krombacher Pils.

The popular bar and restaurant also scooped a gold award in the same category last year.

Mick McManus, General Manager of Bar Varia and Baltic Ice Bar, said: “The staff in Bar Varia and Baltic Ice Bar work hard throughout the year to ensure customers always enjoy a warm welcome and can truly relax and savour great tasting freshly prepared food and drink.

“We are very proud to have received these further accolades within the Best Bar None Renfrewshire awards and now have our sights firmly set on making the shortlist for the national finals on 24 March in Glasgow.”
