WORLD CUP SKIERS MEET SCOTLAND’S BUDDING RACERS AT SNOW FACTOR

World Cup alpine ski racers, Alex Tilley (from Aberdeenshire) and Dave Ryding (Lancashire) took a break from their intensive pre-season training on Friday (24 July) to meet some of the young skiers and snowboarders participating in the fun Snow Camps at Snow Factor Braehead.

The members of the Delancey British Alpine Ski Team are undertaking intensive training sessions this week within Scotland’s only indoor real snow facility to hone their technique in preparation for the 2015-2016 World Cup season.

Both achieved impressive results during the 2014-2015 season.  Alford based 21 year-old Tilley won Nor Am slalom and giant slalom races in Canada and Ryding achieved a string of Europa Cup podium and top ten finishes. Tilley will start her World Cup season with a confidence boosting FIS list (2015-2016) ranking of 31st in giant slalom.

Tristan Glasse-Davies, Head Coach of the Delancey British Alpine Ski Team, commented: “Alex (Tilley) and Dave (Ryding) are tying-in these on snow sessions at Snow Factor with dry land strength & conditioning work at the sportscotland institute of sport in Stirling.

“It’s terrific to have access to real snow conditions in Glasgow for it ensures the racers can continue to work on their technique when based in the UK.  It’s also a great opportunity for two of Britain’s top alpine ski racers to meet some of the young budding skiers and snowboarders at Snow Factor.”

Glasse-Davies, added: “Admittedly it’s hard to pinpoint precisely what elements in training make that all important difference to (race) results, but it’s interesting that Dave has just completed his best ever season and that came on the back of using indoor snow sessions last summer.”

Jamie Smith, owner of Snow Factor International commented: “As the only snow-sports facility in Scotland that can provide year-round real snow conditions, Snow Factor is very proud to once again host members of the Delancey British Alpine Ski Team.  The opportunity to watch and meet the World Cup racers on our slopes will also hopefully inspire many of the young skiers and snowboarders who are currently having fun attending our Snow Camps.”

Alex Tilley starts her World Cup campaign in Solden (Austria) on 24 October.  Dave Ryding will start his World Cup campaign in Levi on 15/16 November.
