Snow Factor Racing (SFR) is a weekly club for junior ski racers. Whether you have experience or are totally new to the ski racing, we provide a progressive training programme to take you from entry level to competition standard.

Snow Factor Racing also offers Introductory workshops for adults looking to get into Ski Racing or those who simply want to take their skiing to the next level. Upcoming workshops will be advertised on this page and social media – watch this space!

Upcoming Workshops and Race Events

Intro to Race Sessions:

Within this session, our race coaches will take you through race drills to help improve performance and technique. You’ll start going through our soft rubber stubby gates, with the aim of progressing to the full race gates in the future. Our coaches can guide you through the course to improving your time and gauge improvement on your performance and create a benchmark for you going forward.

At the end of the session, there will be time for Q&A’s about technique and requipment and  information about our upcoming informal race event for all levels that will take place on Sunday 11th Aug.

Session details:

+ Wednesday 31st July
      +  Junior Session (8-15yrs)  – 5-7pm
      +  Teens/Adult Session (13yrs+)– 7-9pm

+  Sunday 4th August
      +  Teens/Adult Session(13yrs+) – 12-2pm

Snow Factor Race Day Tournament | Open to all Levels!

An informal race competition on Sunday 11th August with timed runs open to all ages and levels. This event will be free to enter with a standard lift pass.

On the day racers can expect to do at least 2 timed runs each before our Races Coaches narrow down the competition.
Whether you’re new to ski racing or a regular at our Tech Tuesday nights, this race event is suitable for all. The race course itself will be suitable for beginners – intermediate.  There will be prizes and goodies up for grabs for all racers who take part and it is sure to be a fun event to kick start the pre-season!

Snow Factor Racing is open to junior skiers aged 8-15  years.  Juniors should be able to demonstrate both snow plough and parallel turns,  whilst controlling their speed on the slope.

Assessment Day: 

Before joining Snow Factor Racing, there will be an assessment to segment juniors in to ability levels. The next assessment dates will be announced shortly.

Assessment Times:

The time of the assessment is  1015hrs – 1230hrs and this includes a 15 minute break with a hot drink/soft drink being provided.  Minimum ski standard is parallel – Assessment sessions are held twice a year.

Race training dates + times:

Assuming children are suitable (age, ability and maturity) race training takes place as follows:-

  • Race Practise & Race Development Groups –  0915hrs until 1130hrs
  • Race Intro and Race Foundation Groups – 1015hrs – 1230hrs

The above times include the provision of a 15 minute refreshment break in the bar.

The dates for Snow Factor Racing take into account the school holidays. Please note that we cannot accommodate all regional variances for school holidays and as such go by Glasgow City Council’s school holidays.

We take part in outdoor and indoor races, as well as races that are scheduled for Scottish Ski Resorts.

Competing is not compulsory to train with SFR, though we do encourage taking part in race events for those of the appropriate standard.
